Something I've found completely galling from wide sections of the left is that Ken Martin is doing exactly what they have long advocated for at the DNC--democratization, decentralization, robust local investments--but they don't actually care because they think it's more fun to just crap on things.

Wonder how Usha Vance and JD’s inlaws feel about all of this.

Btw shout out to Ezra Klein for giving Rufo a sit down interview giving him credence in the world of media elites.

You know … politics done the right way.
New: Chris Rufo & his co-host devoted a podcast to "The Indian Question," framing Desi people as a problem to be solved.

Their "solution?" Mass expulsion. For those allowed to remain: an “assimilation hazing process” w/ instances of “vulgar, defamatory racism" talkingpointsmemo.com/news/chris-r...

Somehow these people who do not call themselves democrats are not painted as "wreckers sailing under the democratic banner to transform the party"

Ya know, the same treatment DSA gets, despite having "democratic" in the name

Can't imagine why this is...
Hey @politico.com can you explain why @thirdway.bsky.social is the source for what the Democrats' SCOTUS platform will be, when they don't even have the word "Democrat" in their name and routinely diss the party?

I'll wait.

I reached out to Manhattan Institute, where Rufo derives so much of his legitimacy as a "senior fellow," to see if it has any comment about him pushing "The Indian Question."

No response, will let ya know if that changes talkingpointsmemo.com/news/chris-r...

Rufo gets to position himself as "respectable." Polite sit-down interview w/ Ezra Klein. Celebrated by Substack as one of platform's "best" writers. Senior fellow at Manhattan Institute.

His "Indian Question" podcast is pretty explicitly white nationalist talkingpointsmemo.com/news/chris-r...

An 18-year term limit and an ethics code … I’m trying to imagine what the mission brief for this court-reform plan was: “nothing, but make it sexy”?

I prefer the incremental solution that can be implemented through bare-majority legislation (240 Supreme Court justices) to Third Way's radical plan, which requires fully amending the Constitution (term limits)

Just to be clear, with legislation you can pack the Court or radically restructure it. You /cannot/ set a term limit in contravention of the plain Constitutional text, and anyone suggesting that is not to be listened to, because they’re either incompetent or trying to quiet-kill reform.

Again: I am genuinely fascinated with a particular type of liberals—many of whom live amongst us on here—who earnestly believes the only path to overtly leftist policies like Court Reform will happen through the continuous support of Reasonable Centrists™️ who quite overtly reject all of this.

see thread here for another example of why i keep pushing the idea that the dems in washington know better than us is just fallacious garbage.

they have no idea what they are doing and we have to bully them from the outside.
Story time. My wife's post here reminds me of one of my favorite stories from my time on the Hill, of which there are many. I was in Comms for a Dem member, and the Caucus would put on a weekly talking points seminar for comms staffers. More often than not, these were run by Third Way.

You must internalize Oliver's point:

1) there are no "adults in charge" of the Democratic House comms machine

2) what you actually have is a consultantocracy telling a bunch of 20-somethings who started as interns what to think and say

3) I was 33 with comms experience. That made me a rarity.
liberals want to think: it cant really be this unfocused, unplanned and chaotic

and im here to tell you that not only is it all that, its worse than it appears

Third Way is what it is - it’s billionaire funded troll operation (to annoy progressives & get media hits in elite DC press) - I say this as someone who got started in DC as a DLC intern.

In any event remember as @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social noted ▶️ all options for scotus reforms are on the table.

Once again progressives get no credit for being right first. Because that is just the way our system works. bsky.app/profile/jame...
The powerful but unacknowledged role that Democratic centrists play is exercising ultimate veto authority over what political rewards and punishments are doled out. This is why conservatives are rarely held accountable for being wrong, and progressives rarely receive credit for being right.
