Our government is patching over our energy crisis with paper and spit, at the cost of climate and health.

They must stop sending the bill for their gross incompetence to the general public, who will be bled dry - figuratively, and almost literally!

The Ministers reforms absolutely contain performative elements & he loves a good dog whistle; to lean into his sense of the political winds of the moment rather than taking a step back & reflecting on the reality as its being felt on the ground. #itsatrap #vote

Imagine you're an immigrant in Ireland, you've slept on the floor/in bedsits, you've paid for a rip off English courses in town, experienced racism, worked in kitchens/cleaning toilets, you're approaching 5 years for residency but no it's now 8 & don't get sick or we'll kick you out for that too.

So the government's "in line with the EU" claim is arithmetically defensible but strategically selective — it's the median, not the modal value, and for refugees specifically it's stricter than the most generous comparators. #immigration #ireland
