Does anyone remember Dashcon 2014 disaster on Tumblr? Because VIIIIIIBES. My wife got a free VIP upgrade to MODE and the first photo walk instructor was a no call no show. THIS GON BE GUD. 🪑
museum of ice cream level of instagram style garbage installed on nicollet mall for flickr’s MODE festival. they bill this as an event for photographers but then include selfie stations like this… deeply unserious. pick a lane!

yes yes vive la france yes the part in wind that shakes the barley where they quote james connolly yes of course "I've got poetry in me" but unfortunately the one that gets me way worse than any of that & that I genuinely can't talk about without crying is Marla Hooch's dad in A League of Their Own

This goes so fucking hard.

Between this and that one vegan prison abolitionist on YouTube shorts, I feel the need to apologize to Quakers in general, I did not know how you got down.
A Philadelphia family just bought their first home with a $10,000 first-time homebuyer grant funded by a group of Quakers

It’s part of the congregation’s racial justice plan to redistribute wealth to Black residents in the Germantown area as a form of reparations

Okay so @defector.com has had an odd glitch since the site redesign a couple of weeks back where the wrong photo and headline are often put together on the main page and I was going to ask them about fixing it but this just happened and as far as I'm concerned they have to leave it as is.

I don't think people really understand the psychic impact of knowing that multiple times a day every day your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, and everyone who could ever have any power over you is being flooded with agitprop designed to make them hate you

Today, the Worldcon Business Meeting voted an extra year of Hugo eligibility to Henry Bean's "The Event", due to very limited distribution within the Worldcon community last year. So it will be eligible for next year's Hugos. It's a remarkable story: jewishcurrents.org/the-event

This post is making the rounds again for some reason and therefore I feel I must inform you that they’ve hired another one so there are now TWO forensic pathologists working in Iceland.
My favourite fact about Iceland is that we have many, many crime writers but only one forensic pathologist, and he was so busy answering all of their questions that he decided to have a small seminar for writers to get some peace.

It immediately sold out so he had another one that also sold out.

Was anyone online this am when someone reposted a link to an older piece written by a Jewish guy and they were like, I don't know why this is going around again but it's great... Like a Jewish X Files thing with the middleeast exploding in mythical deadly flame? I was listening to the author read it

There are tons of reasons I love living in the city, but today it's the middle aged black gal who lives in the four family across the alley from me. I don't know her name, but she's wearing a silk bonnet, sitting on her back stoop. Her next door neighbor is a fratbot d nozzle with an in ground pool.

My bff and I had a thing for John Leguizamo. We had three movies in our weekend film binges: Baz Luhrman's Romeo+Juliet, To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar, and The Pest. Watching The Pest for the first time as an adult. This movie is Terrible, but somehow John Leguizamo is not.

We randomly watched this movie on a free streaming service last night (I was ignorant of it, but Laine knew what it was and didn't say anything) and it was so good, I insisted we leave the house and purchase the Blu-ray today. At the mall. 😦🎬
