Engineer, ISS, Space Shuttles, nuke electrician, currently unemployed; trying to figure out where I'm wrong, and to fix it.
Welp, today is my last day employed with Boeing working on the International Space Station program. I'm heading up north to be closer to family, and don't have anything actually lined up yet. A break will be nice; looking to find something in the new year.

It's been forever since I've done a post specifically related to Oregon Road '83 on DOOMSDAY MACHINES, and I've been wanting to write up this research on gasoline after a nuclear war for ages. What started as specifically a game-related research question became (as always) a rather deep dive...

Years ago, NASA put out a Progress Pride flag of space images created by Rachel Lense. She is no longer at NASA, NASA is no longer celebrating diversity, and that old image just made me sad.

So I made a new one.

A really cool way to experience some of ISS that you don't often come across is the ambient sounds and noises made. ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot did a great jot here, give it a listen.
"Day 121, orbit 1873 — Sunday morning science with Sophie, episode 9: Hunting for sounds, part 2.

Before anyone starts wondering why the TOCA is clicking while it’s switched off… I recorded the sound later on during actual operations. It’s my absolute favourite sound onboard the Station! "

On this day in 1935, FDR signed an executive order creating the Works Progress Administration (WPA). Of 2,000 WPA posters known to exist—publicizing community activities, theatrical productions, and health and educational programs—the Library's collection of more than 900 is the largest.
