Growing SPD to match Denver, SF, or Boston's officer numbers would grow SPD's budget to be anywhere from 31-39% of the bugdet (from 24%).
Considering the budget deficit this would mean that the rest of the budget would need to shrink anywhere from 15-24%. Nearly a 25% cut is insane!

Note that the country is so safe that fights have to land in Cap-Haïtien rather than the capital because gangs control the main airport and shoot at planes.

Put a TV crew on a 8 bus, ask Metro if drivers on the route feel like it's faster

I do wonder if the AI code maximalists inspect the code frontier models produce. I literally use Opus 5 and Sol 5.6, all day, every day, at work and it still produces incorrect things sometimes. Letting incorrect info into a repo quickly becomes garbage in -> garbage out for future code.

It would be ironic if in the quest for artificial general intelligence, instead of AIs maximizing "paperclips", it was select humans devoting as much energy and money as possible into the goal of AGI only to still never reach the goal.

While this sounds like a lot the city settled with a different officer who sued for $950k and former Chief Diaz's suit hasn't been resolved yet.
$700k for a police chief to go away with no lawsuit is cheap relatively speaking.

ROUTE 8 and DENNY WAY: starting on Saturday, buses and cars merging onto Interstate 5 won’t compete for the same lane of Denny Way.
To keep traffic flowing, people driving to I-5 south from eastbound Denny Way will turn right on Boren Ave and left on Howell St instead of using Yale Ave.

I'm a little surprised Mayor Wilson was attacked for even considering not keeping Chief Barnes on as SPD chief and now is getting attacked for keeping him on while his main residence is in the Chicago area.
I guess I'm not that surprised, just really annoyed.
