Still grumbling
At this point in addition to everyone else's pissed off, she's now managed to run afoul of both the Indivisible org and Barack Obama (presumably). Not exactly leaving herself much of a path forward tbh.

I guess there's always a Fox News contributor gig available.

Not going to link to the bad site but apparently Haley Stevens' fiancee is currently crashing out on Twitter and chastising Mallory McMorrow's husband for also backing Abdul.

Call me crazy, but I'm gonna go ahead and suggest that Stevens future in Democratic politics is rather nonexistent.

A 100k site fave has currently written a little screed in defense of this guy, calling trans people "tantruming toddlers" for not understanding sometimes you have to massacre children to get better policy in a few decades.

Pelosi et al putting out a bunch of "We love Abdul!" statements all within a relatively short period of time is probably the clearest sign that they got an angry call from Obama 😂

seems fairly obvious that after her fiancee's statement earlier this week (and to a lesser extent her own comments) that she was basically told she had to do something she doesn't want to do and is going to do it while basically kicking and screaming the whole time
This is the most atrocious and disgusting thing I've seen from a "endorser" maybe ever? She spends literally 90% of the statement criticizing Abdul and implicitly calling him a bigot, which she explicitly did during the primary. Why does anyone take this seriously?

"Well of course most white people vote for the white supremacist party, so you guys need to compensate for that" is not exactly the winning argument that many liberals believe it to be. Yet every couple years I see shocked reactions that there's a certain degree of antipathy among Black communities.
October 30, 2026 at 6:36 PM
"Black people are morally obligated to rescue white voters from themselves" is frankly the unstated assumption that swirls around that exact discourse. And it becomes readily apparent when you see the collective shrug that results when you point out the lopsided voting patterns of white America.
Every election cycle sees Black voters pathologized so that the consistent voting pattern of white voters remains background noise.
By the way, this whole "Black voters are struggling with Abdul El-Sayed" is purely a creation of elite discourse. The latest poll has Abdul up 88-7 among Black voters. Kamala Harris got 86% of the Black vote in Michigan in 2024.

And if Black people fail in their "duty" to vote in significant enough margins against the majority of white voters, well then they just deserve whatever happens to them, is generally the attitude.
We just accept that at any given time white people are probably mostly going to vote for absolute monsters and somehow it's the responsibility of the very Black people we're shitting all over to save us from ourselves.

Yeah, to reopen a can of worms: The tiny uptick of Black men voting GOP in '24 was treated as an outrageous betrayal within white progressive media. Yet any attempt to scrutinize the majority of white women voting R was regularly shouted down as an act of divineness

Not hard to see the play there

This crops up literally every time anyone mentions gentrification & displacement. People who proclaim to understand things like the legacy of redlining & disinvestment start screaming "Oh so you're a segregationist!" the minute a Black person talks about displacement.

Both liberals and leftists have a rather funny habit of gladly talking about the ubiquitous nature of structural racism, right up to the point where the discourse touches on things which impact their own social circle/community.

Then all of a sudden the issue becomes a lot more "complex"

The starkest thing about TNG compared to most space opera today is how much it presents the eruption of violence as a total catastrophe, rather than something awesome bsky.app/profile/norm...
Same. There was something that felt really radical about having a TV hero whose superpower was not just intelligence but thoughtfulness, and a kind of moral seriousness. Who showed from that first episode that you “win” by seeking to understand what seems like a threat.
I am so glad to have learned about the integrity of leadership from Patrick Stewart as a kid watching TNG. "What would Picard do?" feels like a fair guiding question.

Thank you, Patrick, for everything.

Random funny story: When I was in 4th grade, my mom got me the entire Picard outfit for Halloween. People would see me in my uniform & afro and be like "Oh cool are you a crew member?". And I would angrily inform them that I was in fact THE Captain Jean-Luc Picard 😂
