The NIH just released a proposal that will apparently hide peer reviewers’ impact scores and percentiles from the research team, their institution, and NIH program officers.

All the better to obscure how funding decisions will be made primarily via political review, I’m guessing.

Interesting use of my work in a new paper. Authors use well-established finding that ideology is weaker predictor of party id among Black Ams than among White Ams as benchmark for sample quality. Representative samples recover that pattern. Less rep. samples do not.

We've known that socioeconomics (SES) matters for the 🧠. New & 🤯 is that SES drowns out all other brain associations, incl. IQ. If you train an algorithm to predict IQ from brain data, it's still way better at predicting SES. Science Mag: www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

We made an open repository of close relationships measures. Our goal is to catalogue all of the published self-report measures in relationship science.

You can help us expand the database by suggesting measures you tend to use in your research, or by uploading your own measures!

Climate change impacts are here, but public support for action remains polarized. Which climate messages move people?

In a ~13,500-person megastudy, we tested 10 of the most-cited messages. Six increased pro-environmental attitudes in the U.S.—but only by 1–4 percentage points. 🧵

Other countries have social safety nets. The US has women. Women whose paid and unpaid labor are toggled up or down depending on the whims of the men who engineered and profiteered our DIY society.
Roughly half a million women in the US exited the workforce in 2025, and 42% of those who voluntarily left cited their caregiving responsibilities as the main reason, according to a recent survey from Catalyst.

we developmentalists are a small minority of scientists, but had the NIH reorganization gone through, the entire child development wing of NIH (that is, the NICHD) would have basically been decimated. so yeah, this counts as a win in my book
Both chambers of Congress have now passed the FY26 minibus with NIH provisions. The President will sign.

(1) $48.7 billion for NIH
(2) Full IDC recovery
(3) No more multi-year funding
(4) No NIH reorganization, maintaining the current IC structure.
