Another freelancer and I were talking today. Do #freelancers not know how to market? Not a new thing, but the number of people we see who are struggling decades into a career who have like two clients. When those clients disappear .... #FreelanceFriends

#FreelanceFriends Very late to it today -- a lot going on that's not work-related!

I'm a semi-retired freelance writer and editor, suburban Philly, where it's sweltering and finally rainy! Sun is out right now, but the clouds are building.

Q2: Has your business label changed in the past year or so? Why? Did you make a pivot in your business, change your offerings or do you simply feel more aligned with new wording or labeling? #FreelanceFriends

A good use of AI, and one I used one time, is when you have a rambling interview and you can't quite connect what the person is trying to say. Many of my sources get to review before publication, so I'm able to phrase it better, run it by them, and not lose my mind guessing.

Monk in my meditation group is obsessed with using AI to create images for his presentations to our weekly group (about 12-15 people). I've already warned him about using AI images for any work where he earns money. Copyright infringement is nothing to play with. #FreelanceFriends

A2: Personally, I would not. AI-generated content could contain plenty of plagiarized phrases, copyrighted slogans, you name it. No way I'd stick my hand in that flame.
Q2: If a potential (or current client) asked you to rework something they created with AI, would you do it? And, why or why not? #FreelanceFriends

A1:
I have a writer friend who was asked to train AI, and another of her clients "told" her she'd be editing their AI-generated content. She declined both.

When I was actively promoting my business, I would attend an annual trade show. I set up the meetings prior to the show, making sure to build in time to meet the exhibitors and attendees. It was a great way to become known in the industry.

This is an actual exchange from a VP who took an oath to defend the constitution and, as a citizen, is expected to abide by the law.

May we one day have accountability for the grotesque lawlessness of this regime.

Q2: Marketing consistently. (Paula knew I'd say that.) Market. Every. Day. Even if it's touching base with a single client or meeting a new one on social media, marketing will keep your business alive.

Q2: As someone who hears from freelancers every day, which business skills would you say most freelancers today are lacking, or could improve upon?
