People are always quick to say “if it’s really that bad you will get help” but that is NOT HOW IT WORKS.

If you don’t have family or deep pockets, you are on your own.

The support services don’t exist.

That’s why so many of us get trapped in abusive situations.

There’s no easy out.

It’s terrifying being disabled and completely reliant on someone else for survival.

Being unable to feed or clean yourself is unsettling.

There isn’t help available.

If your caregiver doesn’t show? You suffer.

If they’re abusive? You suffer.

The system does not protect us.

They assume we want to trample their rights to a “normal” existence.
