Just as a coda: the O'Reilly case is pretty parallel and interesting if you wanna read more (www.varsity.co.uk/news/26105 + 21percent.org?p=1035), and I think losing the position is about appropriate punishment for his sins so in an ideal world we'd leave Arday alone now by my reckoning.

As I’ve said before, any serious attempt to ban conversion practices in Britain has to confront the fact that the NHS never stopped doing it. This draft bill not only fails, it explicitly gives “healthcare providers” permission to continue.
I've spent years working towards a ban on conversion practices, hoping to see a bill published. Today, I just feel so profoundly sad. As many others have noted, the draft has a carve out for "healthcare" so broad it makes a mockery of the idea this is a 'ban'. 1/2

You will recall, less than a year ago, British police were instructed to disclose the ethnicity of suspects of crime as an explicit sop to the far-right after their last attempt to gin up pogroms. Our then-Home Secretary, now Foreign Secretary, lauded the move. Do we think this helped.
