I don’t understand why people think this isn’t the most obvious question in the world. No, of course not. You don’t know what the distribution of responses will be; that’s why you do the survey.
In case you've been wondering about the viability of AI simulated surveys, Pew has offered in-depth reporting on their experiment with simulated survey participants.

Can AI Stand In for Human Survey-Takers? Not Really
Synthetic surveys using digital twins do a poor job estimating the public mood and are especially error-prone for some subgroups, including Republicans and Black adults.

It is also important to note that Cornell doesn't have a journalism major. These are students who may not even plan to make journalism a career, but their dedication to the field is tremendous.

AP Stylebook warns against anthropomorphizing AI systems:

“Avoid language that gives them human characteristics… Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.”

when wikipedia launched, the idea that an encyclopedia could be reliably maintained by the public was a joke. now, it's a marvel, a remarkable resource, virtually the only website that remotely delivers on its potential and practically the last pleasant browsing experience on the internet.

A few weekends ago I went to Miami and attended 9 open houses in extremely high-risk flood areas to see what agents are telling prospective buyers about them.

Here is my journey

What are buyers being told about climate risk in Miami? I posed as one to find out.

Nothing makes you realize the kids are alright more than sitting & talking with a couple dozen of them for a couple hours at office hours. It would be great if the Ranting Pundits convinced that they know What Is Wrong With Higher Education could meet these students full of great questions & ideas.

Happy labor day (USA). What's one of the oddest paid job you've had? Mine was probably as a reader for a medical professor at Rutgers, whose eyes were failing. I read him many academic texts, as well as Samuel Butler's "The Way of All Flesh."

I started my PhD program with an eight week old at home, sole income being my doctoral stipend, in a history program, in Knoxville, TN. And every month we got a new book to read to my son, free, mailed to us, so my kid, my kids, grew up in rooms full of books even when I had no money.

That's Dolly.

One of the most sobering stories I wrote for the Tribune-Herald was about this hospital. It is so isolated. People have to drive to Hilo for many medical things anyway, and now they can't...a double blow.
Parts of a major highway in the southeastern side of Hawaii’s Big Island collapsed after Hurricane Lala passed overnight, blocking road access to a town with the region’s only hospital, officials said on Sunday.

This shift to computerized state tests was made possible by schools' adoption of one-to-one devices. Which mostly happened with Covid. And yet, we rarely discuss the possibility that computerizing tests--without first teaching computing skills--might've contributed to subsequent test score declines.
