The "stop the boats" movement is being driven by the type of English suburban racist who thinks that one black family living in their street is one too many. Yes, it really is as simple as that, and it has been for decades. There is no intellectual depth to this stuff. It is pure, distilled hate.

But OAPs holding up bits of cardboard with “Palestine Action” written on them are designated terrorists.
Asked if the Government considers the masked thugs swarming British ports “far right” Andy Burnham’s spokesman replies that “it's an operational matter for the police to set out their response to the protests on the ground. So I will leave them to respond to that.”

Seems strange that the obits for Richard O’Sullivan are all leading with mentions of his 70s sitcom work in stuff like Robin’s Nest, which you’d have to be in your sixties to remember, whereas for me, he will always be Dick Turpin, the show that inspired Adam Ant’s Stand and Deliver.
