Over 100 new cases of measles in Pennsylvania have been reported over the past week, according to the state’s health department.

A high schooler just asked me to sponsor him to do a research project this year. He’s 4 hrs away from my lab. WTAF? I suggested he look closer to home.

NSF is consolidating its geoscience research grants into a new program, GEOcore and reducing annual grants to $110 million total in 200-350 awards. Typical was about $300 million in 1,200 awards. Not including institutional grants ($1.3 billion/yr) and those may be gone.
