(1/3) It's World Suicide Prevention Day. I have a history of trauma and C-PTSD. I am very lucky that suicide was never an option for me for some reason. But suicide has followed me for years. Friends and family. My uncle took his own life. My father died of what I would call a passive suicide.

It's hard to believe that this little girl has lived with us for 2 years already. We didn't do the best job of naming, though: Zoë (which means "life"). She has brought more small animals into our house than all the other cats I've had over the last 20 years combined.

Max got into a fight a couple weeks ago. We took him to the vet to make sure he didn't get infected (his fur is almost grown back where they shaved him). He's fine; but he ended up with an aural hematoma resulting in cauliflower ear. He looks like this now.

A developer I know recently asked:

"Since we can produce code so fast now, does the code actually matter that much? Assuming the code fulfills the requirement through actual user testing, who cares what the code looks like?"

I have thoughts:

Why Care About Agent Authored Code Quality
If AI can write code a hundred times faster than humans, and AI is going to be maintaining the app too, why should we care about code quality as long as it works? The assembly language analogy is comp...

one anecdote: I was searching for a link to one of my old papers on Google, and the automated Gemini summary attributed all of my lab's work to my husband
When utilized in literature review, LLMs consistently 1. fail to mention female authors in female-led literatures, 2. insist that men are more influential or more heavily cited when this is contradicted by objective citation counts, and 3. attribute women’s work to hallucinated male scholars.

Oliver, the bookstore cat, held me hostage when I looked at the books on the lower shelf. Fortunately he gave up after a few minutes, otherwise I might still be there.

Still a good car after 18 years. Although the paint is a bit faded, he still cleans up nicely. He's always gotten me to where I need to be. There's still a lot of life left (for both of us).
