As an aside to this great thread: I think we vastly underestimate the damage done by Iraq War propaganda.
With the chemical weapon denialists their experience with the invasion of Iraq in 2003 taught them the media and government will lie and promote false claims about WMD use in Middle Eastern countries for the purpose of regime change, so they approach Syria through that lens.

I decided to find out whether Cork City ever returned a Tory MP. Turns out they did, and more than once. The last was one William Goulding. He sat for 4 years but only because the Nationalist vote was split in the by-election of 1876. He was defeated in the GE of 1880.

I think a lot of people don't really understand that the reports of Russian forces looting museums in occupied Ukraine (particularly Kherson prior to liberation) were not just "soldiers being soldiers" but rather an extremely intentional occupation policy meant to steal cultural heritage

I will admit I still listen to TRiH primarily because they spin a good yarn while I'm making the dinner. More and more I find myself grimacing at their takes. Sandbrook's insistence that fascism is a phenomenon unique to the interwar period being an example.

Having not watched it yet, I find reactions to RoP fascinating. No one seems to think it's just 'all right.' Either people love it to bits or loathe it with a passion.
As a teenager, I trawled through the Lord of the Rings' appendices, The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, and anything else I could get my hands on. This show should have been catnip to me.
Anyway, it's complete shite and I'm surprised they've made a third season.
