It beggars belief that there aren't any political parties calling for a Royal Commission into what the absolute fuck is wrong with the NZ Jevon Force. The scale of rot within the Police is outrageous. www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/3610...
McSkimming scandal prompted a sweep of police devices. It found 21 more cases
New monitoring introduced after the former deputy commissioner’s downfall identified 21 police employees over searches potentially linked to pornography or other concerning material.

This is an unprecedented election. But the Greens are insurgent. In this scenario the OPPs would be king maker but there would be 17 green MPs, and likely at least 3 TPM MPs. If we can get out the vote, and if we continue to build Green numbers (which usually peak earlier) we can do better than win.

Louise Upston didn't like being called "heartless" for telling cancer patients to find work. In 2024, she said she'd cut job beneficiaries by 50K

To date, there are 80K MORE. That's 130K from target

Watching her try to blame MSD for laws SHE rushed under urgency is farcical but on brand #nzpol

Kia ora! I got a call from Curia Research this week, and I thought the polling script would be of interest. As is customary, it appears to reflect a mix of public and private polling purposes. Some questions seem targeted for potential campaign rhetoric and one is just strange. Here we go, then ...

Wild to me that none of the NZ political parties can get their act together enough to say, simply, "if elected, we will increase science funding by a factor of 2-5x"

The Science Media Centre sent some basic questions on science policy to political parties. From the governing coalition, National didn't bother replying, Act says it has a policy coming and NZ First's response is reasonably (surprisingly) coherent. www.sciencemediacentre.co.nz/2026/09/09/2...
2026 Election Q&A - Science
Ahead of the 2026 General Election, scheduled for Saturday 7 November, the Science Media Centre asked political parties about their science policies. Responses to all 12 questions on science policy an...

It doesn't surprise me at all that Hipkins lacks even the iota of self awareness required to realize he's sinking the ship.

But the Labour caucus includes lots of smart folks. It worries me more that they apparently can't see the damage he's doing.

Shouldn’t we have a critical industries list, that’s entirely owned by the NZ public, in order to safeguard ourselves from rising geopolitical threats? I feel like the more exposed we are right now to the whims of self interested privatisation (often foreign) leaves us wide open to more harm💭 #nzpol
