Yesterday I joined a book club that was discussing ENDPAPERS, which is always such a joy & honor!

Even better, one of the readers confessed that the description made her think it was a sci-fi time-traveling mystery! All I can say is, dang, where were she and her great idea when I was writing it?? 😆
I just send an audio text like some kind of gen z'er

I spent a good part of the morning procrastinating because I was scared I didn't know where to start with my revisions, but now I'm in the groove and it's already time to stop. Boo!

I'm working on a story collection for the 1st time & having trouble focusing. If you've written one, did you finish & edit one story at a time or move back & forth among them? When I choose one, I fear I'm abandoning others & losing momentum. When I move around, I feel like I'm not getting anywhere.

I was talking to a writer friend about the not-always-intentional pause I've been taking from my writing practice. She said that there are times when you have a lot to say and you MUST say it all. And then the time comes when you need to pause to listen more closely and experience life 💚

This is the second thing I've read by @vanjonack.bsky.social in the past few years—an essay and a short story—and both have blown me away. I can't wait to get my hands on more of this writer's work!

BREAKING: Today, I'm introducing a bill to BAN corporate takeovers of your doctor's office.

Doctors should be able to care for their patients without greedy private equity investors getting in the way.

Let's get this done.

Instead of doing research for a story I’m writing, I’ve been watching a reel of a single popcorn heating up on IG.

I love it when you're writing a scene, and suddenly a character appears or says something that YOU DID NOT PLAN AND WOULD NORMALLY NOT ALLOW, but it happens, and then it changes the whole book for the next 20 pages.

How does that happen? These characters are real! How do they not have agency?! Gah

Me as a reader: Anthologies are awesome! Nothing beats a really good anthology. There should be more anthologies.

Me as an editor: Anthologies are evil. Anthologies drink the blood of their enemies. Anthologies killed my entire family.

So far, only about half the files have been released — and a potential cover-up by the Trump regime continues to generate bipartisan political action. Here's what you should know.
