My dog caught a snow hare in the new dog yard yesterday and I felt awful (the hare squeal will haunt my nightmares) - it did get away but..
Today, Skippy nabbed a wee mouse in the house and I realize this is her dream life. Fuzzy smaller things she perceives as a threat.
