Pretty funny that Ed Sheeran seemingly only hired Irish people and yet didn't see this coming.

The US President's new proposal to tax international students has been approved by the White House for release this week.

It's an unprecedented $100,000 tax on int'l grads who stay to work after graduation on Optional Practical Training (most grads do), a crucial bridge to remaining by any channel.

Equatorial Guinea is a dictatorship run by the same man since 1978, with his children running large portions of the state now. We paid this dictatorship millions of dollars to let us deport random people there. Our money was used for this inhumanity.
AN URGENT EXCLUSIVE: Ahmed Soliman, the 30-year-old gay man ICE expelled in April to Equatorial Guinea, a country he has no ties to, was arrested this morning and cannot be located, his attorneys say. They fear he may be in one of EG's torture prisons. prospect.org/2026/09/11/i...

I mean this with all kindness- if you are not actually in danger, stewing over fear is not going to lead to you having a safer, freer or more beautiful life.

It is going to make you a mark for conmen.

If you do have multigenerational trauma, like so many of us do, the answer is trying to treat it

Anti Jewish violence is real and horrific. Being a victim of this violence is not the quotidian experience of most Jewish people right now. Encouraging Jewish people to live in terror when they are not actually in danger is deeply manipulative and is used to manufacture consent for genocide

I think the punditariat's audience, which is older people, just cannot even remotely fathom that white nationalists run the country—that they do not believe it when they are told, nor recognize it when they see it. The pundits fall back on threats from the left, which are legible to their audience.
American Nazis existed in the 1980s–90s. They were reported on derisively and known as "neo-Nazis." They were, so far as young me could tell, universally thought of as loser freaks with no real power.

So it must be hard for older people to imagine that young neo-Nazis run today's Republican Party.

You can try telling older people that young neo-Nazis run the Republican Party. You can tell them 'this guy Stephen Miller tells Trump what to do.' But for one, they don't think Donald Trump gets told by others what to do, and, no one who is a neo-Nazi could become White House deputy chief of staff.

By contrast, when older people hear about "left-wing radicalism," they know what that is, or at least what the speaker intends by it. Images come to their minds. It means something to them. What comes to mind for most Americans when they hear "right-wing radicalism"? I would expect that it's nothing

When I say that right-wing radicalism is not 'legible' to older people, I mean they do not quite have a concept of what they are looking at, even on the occasions it is plainly shown to them. Maybe a bit of the problem is labeling—that many don't know what "right-wing radicalism" is supposed to mean
