I did not realize this would be possible but I've been using Kerrygold butter for so long now that ordinary grocery store stick butter tastes weird.

No one who wants a Senator to kill trans kids is going to vote for a Democrat who's going to half-ass it. There's just literally no point in committing to just a LITTLE bit of oppression.

It's funny because my dialect quiz results very accurately reflect that I grew up in the south but also watch a lot of teevee, but there's one question where they left off the answer that would very precisely tell you the town I was born in.

Hilariously, my top FIVE movies from the years in which I was 20 all came out when I was either 19 or 21. While I was actually 20, really nothing that I can get too excited about.

Okay, phew, if we go by international release date I was in fact 20 when this came out.
The competition was Gigantic (if we go by film festival premiere date) and a Candian dance adaptation of Dracula.

I was staying with my aunt and cousins for a week, back in the time when "just sitting around" was a thing people did, and I was just sitting around in the living room. My cousin came out of his bedroom, put a CD in the stereo, and went back into the bedroom as it started.
I think it'd be really nice to read about people's first time hearing a song. A nice long thread of stories. But I don't know how to get the thread to take off. Maybe if you re-post with your story? Anyway, I'll start with my memories of hearing Buckets of Rain by Bob Dylan for the very first time..

When you see up close how much easier it makes EVERYTHING when school meals are free it becomes very clear that we make students pay for lunches because some people want students to not get enough food.
This is one of the biggest reasons I’m opposed to means testing for things like free school meals. I grew up in a community with a lot of kids from wildly wealthy families who were abused & neglected by their parents. Kids of wealthy parents need to be protected, too
fwiw, one reason young people are more attracted to egalitarian philosophies is that no young person is actually rich. children don't own any property in their own name. this is not just a tecnicality; it's a material reality that has realy material consequences. 1
