I'll continue to shoot (and probably screw up) more of these dry plates, but at least it's cheaper than color 4x5 film 😅

Haven’t posted much on social media the last few months, so here’s some Aerochrome from a recent trip to Kaua’i.

Thankful this roll turned out as well as it did. Our other roll did not share the same fate.

(Potential) Verdict was a piece of fuzz stuck in the lens housing. Thanks to @stigofthedump.bsky.social for suggesting to check the rear element.

I found a fuzz stuck in a part of the lens which only “fell down” into the frame when the lens was held at the correct angle.

Time to shoot a roll.
Alright #believeinfilm - mystery time

Who has any idea what might be causing this mark on my film?

Some details: Mamiya Super 23 w/ 6x9 back. Sekor 100mm f2.8 lens. Mark appears on each negative in approx. the same place.

1st thoughts are a scratch/issue with the lens or the film back… 1/2

With the Artemis II mission ending successfully, I can’t help but think about what I think is one of the craziest photos ever taken.

In 1984, during a mission on the Space Shuttle Challenger, Bruce McCandless II completed the first untethered spacewalk, and was the subject of this insane photo.

When P&S cameras are fashionable but you shoot large format…

Some large format practice. First on Foma 200, then on dry plate (J Lane)

I barely dragged myself out of bed for this photo. Thankfully it wasn’t cloudy.

The old “make a bad photo black and white” trick never fails me.

Can you believe this is smack dab in the middle of Phoenix?

How about that bokeh? I wonder what (telephoto?) lens was used to shoot this image.

Back on the archival grind. Digitized another ~200 slides - mostly from New Zealand (I think) or one of the many islands in the South Pacific.

If anything looks familiar please let me know - I’m always hunting for the story behind the photo.

A truly random assortment of photos from the latest round of dev/scan.

Color is from the Superstition Mountains on the Canon 7, and BW is from the F3 from the latest trip to Omaha.

Excited to have one of my photos chosen for the gallery portion of @phxfilmrevival.com’s Time and Space anthology & gallery show.

Took this photo in the blistering July heat in Papago Park using a Zebra 4x5 glass negative @ ISO 3

Large swaths of this land were just sold for a large development near the TSMC chip plant in Phoenix.

Every day they take more of our desert spaces away from us, and soon there will be no more.

I’m not shocked that Amazon doesn’t want you posted about illegal fireworks in your neighborhood. Who cares if you live steps away from the desert that they’re using for the non-permitted aerial fireworks?
