Technology being everywhere doesn’t mean it belongs everywhere. The tech industry wants us to believe that AI in early education is not only inevitable, but necessary. We don't see it that way. This week, we announced a moratorium on generative AI for public school students in 2-K to 8th grade.
We’re eliminating AI use for students in 2-K through 8th grade for the upcoming school year.

But you think you can come around here, put items in your basket, and then swan off without checking out? On MY WEBSITE? I got a call from the half-dozen bug-eyed, pallid dorks we locked in the computer room until they agreed to make and run us a shop. (Yeah! We still have a computer room! What of it?) They were in tears. Really upset. They’ve spent so much time on that website, and between you and me I think they’ve figured out that we really have no intention of releasing them so this is pretty much all they have to live for - and you’d take this away from them? There’s three outcomes I can see: - You click here, buy whatever was in your basket, maybe throw an extra copy of Spire or something in there as an apology, and we say no more about it - I come over to your house and stomp about on your roof until you see the error of your ways - I have to walk down all fifteen flights of stairs from my marble and obsidian office suite (we don’t believe in elevators at RRD) and calm down the dorks by putting blankets over their heads and singing jazz classics to them under my breath Take it from me: you don’t want me on your roof. Years of aged brandy and luxury desserts have left me hefty and cantankerous. And the dorks don’t want me to put blankets on their heads, and I can’t sing, so if anything it makes the situation worse and that just makes me angrier.
