As a transphobic male senator, there is nothing more important to me than protecting women's sports. Here's why it never occurred to me that Jack Smith, a man, would choose to attend a women's college basketball game.

As a card-carrying sayer of "it's more complicated than that", sometimes it's not!!!!
Climate change is as straightforward as it gets: Democrats vote to address it and Republicans vote not to.

There's a weird tic among the pundit class where they think saying "it's more complicated than that" is the intelligent stance on everything but sometimes it's not complicated!

Y’all managed to make AUSTIN PD look good by comparison????
UPDATE—New video shows ICE did not give any medical aid to man they shot in the back.

Agents drag him out of car—handcuff him behind his back instead.

Only when Austin Police arrive did a local officer run to get medical gloves and start first aid.

Was not prepared to read those words in that order today
Our Deer Management Archery Program has started and runs through Feb. 13.

The program reduces and stabilizes the white-tailed deer population in the county to minimize safety and health hazards related to an overabundance of deer.

Beyond the painfully obvious reply to this nonsense that "this is exactly what you voted for," Trump voters should if anything be upset that ICE has come nowhere near his explicit campaign promise to deport *one million people per year*

i’m a trans Texan and i’ll be voting for Talarico and strongly encouraging others to vote for him, but i still think he’s a coward for acquiescing to whatever bad advice he received.

to some folks that’s unforgivable. i respect that, and you should too.

either way, please read the piece.
This is a powerful story from a trans Texan (who's also quite a talented independent journalist).

I've been arguing that trans people have the right to be upset with Talarico, and I think we do. This is the case for vote for him anyway, eloquently made, and by someone with the standing to make it.
I’m a Texan trans kid who almost died because of Ken Paxton. The world should know what he’s done.

This was very difficult for me to write, but given what's at stake, I cannot bear to stay silent about what I went through at Paxton's hands.

He must not be rewarded for what he's done to trans kids.

Just did a quick look around and I don't see very many headlines about the President of the US making people pledge allegiance to him personally while telling everyone to commit election fraud and "cheat like hell" to support his party.

Seems like it should be a story?
Trump: "Please right your right hand. I pledge to the greatest president in the history of the United States. That loves us so much he can't even breath. That I will go out with my family, my friends, I'll do it any way - I don't care if I'm registered or not, I'm going to try to cheat like hell..."

Talarico is wrong on this. Period. Whatever his personal beliefs about (extraordinarily rare) care, a national ban steps between the people who should be the ones making these decision: families and trusted providers.

This doesn’t win votes. And it harms real people.
Talarico says he would vote in favor of a national ban for transgender surgeries for minors

seriously why isn’t “every republican president destroys the economy” the most ubiquitous phrase in american politics?!?!
New in PN: Are voters finally realizing that GOP presidents are disasters?

"The last 3 R presidents have handed their D successors an economic catastrophe, & the last 3 Ds have had to do their best to clean it up. Why don’t Ds ever say that? I think it would make a difference" — @mjtoma.bsky.social
