Notably, while the Trump administration is escalating its anti-#ICC campaign, opposition to the Court has historically been bipartisan, with Congressional Dems joining prior statements (and votes) against the ICC, cf. this paper co-authored w/ @kylereed.bsky.social

Congrats to every institution, pundit, etc. that completely capitulated to this guy after he won a narrow popular vote plurality against an opponent from the incumbent party who entered the race 100 days before the election and in the context of a worldwide backlash against incumbents
I am personally not sure what Trump's approval rating floor is, but it's definitely lower than pundits were predicting in early 2025. It is a possibility that he never gets above the mid-30s again (among all adults)

On October 9, the United States government sanctioned the International Criminal Court, citing ICC jurisdiction over crimes by US nationals abroad.

This is an unprecedented assault on global justice and the rule of law.

Comically evil behaviour. I keep on saying this, but if you're a government still relying on OFAC-encumbered tech - you should get out now.

Hopefully that is coming. These states are not powerless.

The EU, UK and Canada all have the ability to invoke measures to block the impact of U.S. sanctions.

awarding the nobel to navi pillay is 100% merited. her career/views is a rejection of trumpism, eg:
- international law at center of her career
- deep commitment to human rights institutions
- leadership of int'l justice (ICC, ICTR)
- foreign student earned JSD at Harvard
so much to celebrate.
actually . . . wow! navi pillay, one of the most prominent human rights leaders of our time, former UN high commissioner for human rights . . . so richly deserved. three cheers!
