It's funny; I have felt creatively drained for months now, but the instant I regain a little bit of stability in my life and don't have to worry about ending up homeless in the near future the juices start flowing again.

I truly, deeply, sincerely do think the guy flipping burgers at McDonalds should be able to afford rent, bills, and groceries with his paycheck alone. That's kind of the whole point of having a job and I can't believe this is considered a radical position.🤷🏽♀️

I got the job! It's another pet retail position but the company seems a lot better than the ones I have worked for previously, based on the interview I did and the brands that they stock. They're starting me at 18/hr too, which is more than I was hoping for at this point.

I don't know if this is a hot take or not, but I am increasingly convinced that the 'golden age' of the internet was only about ten years long, from ~1998-2008, and the special sauce that made healthy online communities possible during that time has been irretrievably lost.

My neighbors have gotten progressively louder and more obnoxious every week since they moved in, between the karaoke machine they use at full volume until 2-3am and the music they start playing at 6am from thursday-sunday, I am losing my goddamn mind.

This is so sad. Their programs were some of the best in the country. A public institution in a state where whites are 37-9% of the population. We can’t represent 60% of our population in higher ed.

Had a very promising interview today, and they say they'll contact me with a decision within a week, so I'm feeling cautiously optimistic. It seems like a decent company and the starting wage is better than what I've made at my last two jobs.

"Your brains stop developing at age 25" was a press misrepresentation of a study. They wanted to see if brains continued to develop after adolescence, so the study was capped at age 25.

this is why it's my pet peeve fake science fact. It's absolute bs! nothing happens to brains at age 25, they do not "fully mature". you will notice that many societies have an age of majority or coming-of-age or whatever and none of them have ever chosen mid-20s.
Many people seem to be confused on this point.
The GOP is passing/intro'ing bills banning GAC up to & including the age of 25 on the theory that brains don't fully mature til then.
In public they call them bans on "minor" care.

Something that I think about whenever the idea of agricultural collapse due to various resource shortages comes up is the fact that 40% of all the food produced in the world is wasted, and another 40% is used to feed livestock.

Sitting on my ass for two months straight has left me in a lot worse shape than I thought. We only did one property; eleven buildings, and I'm fucking dying. It doesn't help that the heat index is still over 100 at 10pm.
I'm starting a part time gig doing trash pickup for apartment complexes today. It doesn't pay much but it's only a couple hours work a night and it's the first income of any kind I've had since the beginning of July, so I'm gonna call it a qualified win.

Therapy got cancelled today and I feel weird about it. I didn’t want to go in the first place, and I love canceling plans, but I spent all week preparing myself for it and I was kind of looking forward to some kind of cathartic release after stewing in the Bad Thoughts for that long.

I've been flipping through some of my old comics recently and the thought occurred to me; how has no one adapted American Vampire for TV yet? It's almost tailor-made for a prestige anthology series, each season being set in a different era, with one or two characters like Skinner Sweet linking them.
