Maybe Sharp over-estimated the number of people reading poetry for its contemporary social news updates? #poetry #LouisMacNeice

England of the humming wires. England of the ghosted fields. England of the nephomantic sky. This is where my patriotism lives, not in its ragged flags, but in a land that knows its spectres. – #DAKilroy

Quick glance (because, work) hints at shades of #TristramShandy here, so I'm on board.
This arrived this morning. Which is great. It's not as if I have work to do or anything... #booksky #ThursdayNext

That traffic warden! Less than a second from seeing the image and I was thrown into the existential mire. But this is 'sweet': www.bbc.com/news/uk-engl....

After Nancy Sharp married Bill Coldstream they went to Bude to tell her parents. It didn't go well...

A colleague in Alberta has shared one of the finest pieces of writing I have seen in a long time (though there is one sentence that jars unnecessarily). Need I say he (my colleague) will be voting Hell, no! (should be an option) on question 10 (and, I assume) the rest? Anyway, do read this.
The Annual Migration of Canadian Men To Canadian Tire
Hans Casteels went to Canadian Tire for one screw. He returned ninety minutes later with bungee cords, WD-40, a tactical flashlight, smoked almonds and enough winter equipment to clear snow

My contribution is going to look the other way, at the Caribbean where all sorts of interesting things happen and there are some interesting peripheral interactions between what will be TEC, the CoE, and an emerging CPWI. Hopefully, it will be readable when I am done. Hawai'i must be fascinating
Someone write a better paper than mine about the history of Anglicanism in Hawaiʻi pleaseeeeee

Word of mouth lasts longer than a sale-or-return promotion. In the poetry world, at least.
It's so so frustrating. I went into several bookshops in London the other day and none stocked it. Yet it was number one on the Blackwell's bestseller chart for weeks.

There is no competing with the big publishers who pump books into the shops.

You just have to pray word of mouth alters things.
I have gone into at least 5 shops and kiosks looking for Everything Will Swallow You. No dice. Ordered online there. I look forward to seeing it in every shop I enter for the next 6 months.

War is target fixation. War is concrete cicatrix. War is an unbanishable ghost. Hookland knows this. It pillboxes remain manifestations of invasion fears. The abandoned sound mirrors of its salt marshes still listen out for phantom planes. There is no psychic peace. – #DAKilory
