While the Israeli military invades a Palestinian university in the occupied West Bank to demolish a memorial to Palestinian students the IDF has previously murdered, here in the UK our political & media class focus on telling us the Green Party are the problem.

Also, it's insulting to those Jewish and Palestinian members who worked for a year on this detailed motion to reduce its content to a 'slogan'. Please read this longish thread from Jewish member Annie Gottfried-Cohen:

bsky.app/profile/anns...
Reading the news, it would be easy to believe that the Green Party has adopted a policy to expel its Jewish members, prevent them from attending synagogue or at the very least scrutinise their activities outside the party. *None of that has happened* 🧵

Noooooo, you don't understand, the purpose of a political party is to patiently fence-sit their way into power, and then sell out what little principles they have left to become the junior party in (and absorb all the toxicity of) a right-wing coalition for a 5p carrier bag charge.
Some people here don't seem to have understood the purpose of a political party.
It's not the same as a protest movement.
It is a vehicle designed to get into government, to change legislation and make a material difference to the lives of people at home and abroad.

Leonid Ragozin was expelled by Latvia. The usual crowd of Kremlin apologists, along with some real journalists, quickly came to his defense.

Read here why Leo is not your typical journalist:

In today’s Vatnik Soup, I’ll introduce a Russian journalist, Leonid Ragozin (@leonidragozin.bsky.social). He’s best-known for posing as a Russian dissident, while at the same time sneakily promoting the Kremlin’s narratives about the Russo-Ukrainian War.

The worst part of that green party motion is that now I have to hear the NPC dialogue tree about it being a "complex issue" in real life. Just like the online version, no refutation of core thrust of the motion is made, if it's anything it's conceded, just that it's rude to point out.

I'm still very upset that stuff like this goes bascially uncommented on. not even an MP commenting on it.

It shows how broken things are bsky.app/profile/aida...
This tweet is highly defamatory and Martina Navratilova should be fired from BBC Sport for it.

It demonstrates an horrendous level of hatred for a trans woman (who was cleared of all wrongdoing in a recent tribunal) because she is a trans woman.

Ecosia has a much deeper problem than which text fabrication engine they're using - they're fundamentally driving a shift towards more wasteful, bloated and inefficient digital existence and they continue to refuse to disclose any meaningful information

That aside: the idea open models are "better" in terms of sustainability is wildly overplayed. There's *some* difference but it's small

Ecosia are scamming a huge, huge number of eco-minded people and pushing them into wasteful, private-jet-esque search habits

A short while ago my local Labour MP said he was pushing for and making the case for electric bikes to be classed as dangerous products. Yet they kill and seriously injure less people than these unsafe (over powered, over weight, over sized) trucks.

Silence or leadership?

Psychotruck driver kills again. 😢 Ford Ranger is an unsafe vehicle that should require special licence to use. Users of sensible vehicles pay the price with their children’s lives.

Actual dangerous product. I’m now waiting for our MPs to demand such classification?

I've talked about this before, but it is very hard when you see how moral red lines are drawn, and the complete gutting of trans people's civil rights is entirely within an accepted norm and barely remarked upon even by many progressives.
It's just accepted as normal that the UK hates trans people and that's ok. It doesn't even register as something to be concerned about when most cis people are talking about the state of the country.

Tired.

I notice that everything the press doesn’t like is “social contagion” now, except for the escalating crankery of the press, which is an organisation of a couple of thousand people mostly concentrated in one city, who largely all know each other - one thing that definitely *is* social contagion.

People will say "why do you only talk about Israel when there's other countries doing massive violence?" And so with that in mind I'll just note that the UAE, which is backing a genocide in Sudan, as well as being a slave state, is being treated with delicate kid gloves by the government.

Also labour from the people mining rare Earth minerals, the people in the Global South who toil to clean the data and supervise models live as human-in-the-loop, the people building/ cleaning data centers... the labour theft is so extensive it's not realistic that this would have been feasible.
This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead
