I dreamed that I was vacationing in Fiji (to see lava tubes of course) but thought that I might be getting sick on vacation due to some half-asleep sniffles… this is how I knew the wildfire smoke plume had arrived in VA.

Thrilled to see @eirinipoulaki.bsky.social’s paper on granites drilled during IODP exp 402 out! Granites are normally found in continental crust, but their association with mantle rocks underneath the Mediterranean gave insight into faulting during ocean basin formation. share.google/rHyrf41YBNy4...

I don't want to say this was completely unexpected, because this is something changes in ice coverage can affect, but increasing seismic hazards is not the first impact of climate change that comes to mind. 🧪

I don't want to say this was completely unexpected, because this is something changes in ice coverage can affect, but increasing seismic hazards is not the first impact of climate change that comes to mind. 🧪

The obvious answer is Thermus aquaticus -> Taq -> PCR... but there must be other examples?

The obvious answer is Thermus aquaticus -> Taq -> PCR... but there must be other examples?
