A west Cork #painting "Red Strand Rocks" was painted one magical sunny day sitting for hours with my bicycle on a bluff above a beach. At one point mid-painting I lay down and closed my eyes for a pleasant sleep. Afterwards I cycled to Clonakilty and handed over the painting. #SpéirGhorm #ArtYear
Landscape format in acrylics on canvas. The blue water of a bay comes in from the left between a headland along the horizon and in the foreground rocks in a series of strata extending into water. The headland juts out from right, has green fields and hedgerows tumbling down to jagged dark rocky edge by water. White tip of lighthouse peeps over left end slope, and a long white house is low down close to the water at the right edge of the painting. Rock strata are blue, grey, dark wine and purple with the lines running from the bottom straight up the centre of the picture breaking up in the water. They run from the entire width of the bottom edge of the painting and extend up loosely in a triangle. Sand is to left of rocks and a grass-topped ochre-grey bluff to right. Sky is a painterly yellow with paler indications of clouds. Signed top left, Liam Daly

Folks, sorry, I just don't have the time to be a visionary AI leader, too busy helping my customers sorting stuff out that is a lot more prosaic. You know, the things that generate revenue, rather than just soaking it up?

The Ambiguity of the CTO
It's such a terrible title. It's such a wide role. It's not useful in a huge percentage of companies. You should really only have a CTO if technology drives your strategy. And you should treat them appropriately.

C'mon folks, only 721 people to go and we've passed the Irish threshold. If you haven't signed this already, why not?

It's an important EU citizen led initiative that needs 7 countries to pass their threshold, and then the EU government machine is forced to talk about it.

Amazon MQ is now available in AWS Asia Pacific (New Zealand) Region

AWS brings message queues to New Zealand! Because apparently "SQS" wasn't confusing enough, you can now overpay for ActiveMQ in yet another region. Just don't ask about the pricing - it's more complex than a hobbit's family tree.

Ireland just released a report showing the huge success of the unconditional basic income it provided to artists. Each $1 spent led to society gaining $1.39. Artists' earned incomes went up more than their side job incomes fell. And they were happier and used less welfare

www.gov.ie/en/departmen...
For every €1 of public money invested in the pilot, society received €1.39 in return The net cost of the BIA pilot went from €105m to under €72m due to tax generated and savings on social welfare payments It also finds that recipients’ arts-related income increased by over €500 per month on average, while their income from non-arts work decreased by around €280. Dependence on social protection declined, with recipients receiving €100 less per month on average, and 38 percentage points less likely to receive Jobseeker’s payments.
