Hey Empire RETVRN guys, how's that whole CANZUK thing going?
Canada is currently negotiating to become an associate member of the EU.

This means Canadians would permanent visa status to travel and work in the EU without adopting the EUR as our currency.

This is how over the United States that Canada is.

Yeah, I’ll gladly go work in Denmark. Sounds fun.

Wow. What a great start. Used the CRL today and can confirm the trains were very busy on Tuesday too.

"oh, but we don't have a say. Our wages are set independently by a completely arm's length government committee"

As if that isn't also true of all the people on the minimum wage.
ALL ACT ministers should be paid min wage. Let's see just how fast they undo their call for wage freezes.

The Houthi-aligned Bani Hashish tribes are massing in preparation to “liberate” the remaining Yemeni territory outside Houthi control. It’s a sea of Toyotas with mounted machine guns. I think this is what we should mean when we say Toyotathon from now on.

Windows recently said it was going to do more regular mandatory full-system-shutdown update installs, "for my convenience".

Their gaslighting is not helping matters.
Increasingly feels like the fluid nature of software is more a hellish trap than a feature

Like having people break into your house every night to rearrange your furniture, reprogram the tv, and swap out family pictures for stock photos and ads
Why, why, WHY @adobe.com would you add such a useless and annoying thing to Acrobat? Who the H wants to share that text via whatsapp?
Has anybody figured out how to disable this? My search only showed ppl are annoyed with it and a pseudofix for Mac.

so, another "the effects might be bad, but the causes are very, very good" guy?
The Sure Things: Shane Reti's heir apparent is not quite what you'd expect: he describes himself as right of centre, but worries NZ isn’t doing enough to tackle inequality; he wants to boost the local economy through primary industries, but ban bottom trawling.

The integrity of the report doesn't matter, it did exactly what it needed to: gave the Mayor technocratic cover to fire a bunch of people.

Crayfish is a wonderful example of an eggcorn - mishearing or reinterpreting a word to fit with your understanding of the world.

The original Middle English word was Crevise, from the French Crevice, but it lives in the water, so they must mean it's some kind of fish, right?
Today is Quintidi the 25th of Fructidor in the year 234.
Fructidor is the month of fruitfulness.

This is the sort of nonsense NZ encouraged when we hosted a State of Origin game in Auckland.
I, for one, welcome the Victorian government spending $45m to bring a football game to Melbourne, a city famously lacking in football

Also, how many of those Starship Trooper mobile infantry being fed into a combat woodchipper do you think are making it back to the imperial metropole to actually cast their votes?

literally every veteran in the movie has an amputation.
If you look up the definition of ‘fascist’ in the Encyclopedia Brittanica, you’ll find a fairly decent primer on fascism, and the fictional society in Starship Troopers arguably fits the descriptors in the article. ‘Service guarantees citizenship!’ And whatnot www.britannica.com/topic/fascis...

Trucking sewerage from northern Auckland to Whangarei to juice the traffic volumes on SH1 and make the Warkworth to Te Hana Highway numbers look better.
“I certainly wouldn’t call anyone who came up with the idea of trucking sewage to Whangārei an expert,” the mayor grumbled. “Idiot comes to mind.”

Weather events that close roads up North more frequently make it likely that the Delmore development in Orewa might be sitting in its own s**t. #nzpol

If they can’t stop developments in far-flung areas, it looks like councillors are just going to refuse to service them.

A crappy webcomic, so famous that people can recognise it from just 8 lines, has had more cultural impact than any piece of LLM slop.
