New PISA data out

England is now top ten in all three areas (reading, maths, science) and the second highest performing country outside of east Asia (after Estonia).

This is a huge public policy success.

There are two questions these people need to answer:

1. How does a vehicle approaching from behind that is about to hit you sound different from a vehicle approaching from behind that is about to miss you?
2. If it did sound different, what action could a rider take in one second or thereabouts?

Tax the things you want less of (massive cars) subsidise the things you want more of (active transport - bikes).

Like most things it’s not that difficult

This is taxpayer money down the drain.

Households are paying too much for fuel, yet Labor's answer to every energy challenge is another handout to the fossil fuel industry.

The cheapest, cleanest and most secure energy is clean energy we generate here.

It didn’t.

“It’s difficult to imagine that just over 20 years ago, this was an elevated highway carrying 168k cars daily through South Korea’s capital.”

Now it’s a world famous people-place.

They’ve since removed 16 more elevated highways in the city.

To carry 50,000 people per hour in each direction, a city needs a 175m wide road for cars.

Even if those cars are electric.

And then there’s all the parking.

OR a city can move A LOT MORE people in a lot less space, with A LOT LESS public money, emissions, pollution, noise etc.

Choices.

Simple.

Stop this nonsense. Sport is not a commodity to be maximised, fundamentally it is a recreation for those who pursue it and watch it. We already have too much exhibition cricket where the result is forgotten more quickly than chook raffle.

This point needs to be made over and again:
The main purpose of wealth taxes should not be to raise revenue. That's a small and secondary benefit. The main purpose should be to *reduce the fortunes of the ultrarich*. Why? Because those fortunes present a massive threat to democracy and public life.

The UK government should ban social media use by the over 60s.

That is the part of the population being radicalised to support mass murder and genocide by social media.

If you want to ban people based on age, ban the problematic part of your society: the over 60s incapable of logic and reason.
