Given that Irish government TDs have cited Sweden's decision to introduce a language test for citizenship as justification for Ireland introducing one, it seems relevant that Sweden is finding it difficult to actually do it

Hey so in case you don't want to do the math, I've got you.

0.00006934%

That's how much 150000 is of Zuck's estimated between worth of 254.4 billion.

I mean I could also give a euro to my local clubs over the course of 2 years and would have given away a significantly greater proportion of my wealth than Zuck has done here

I would urge people to recall, as we hear the government justify their choices in the coming budget, that long before the fuel protests, this govermment gave a massive and economically unjustifiable VAT cut to hospitality, which cost more than half of what an additional child benefit payment would

If Anthropic would like to give me $12.6 billion in order to receive $4.6 billion back, I'd like to make it known that I have a gap in my schedule that could work well for both of us.
Reuters got some of the IPO docs. Anthropic is a total dog of a company. Spent $12.6bn to make $4.6bn in revenue in 2025, $7.33bn of which was compute costs. Operating loss of $8bn. Losses getting worse year over year. Amazing stuff

Ireland will go the same way if the gov doesn't get a hold of the narrative that immigrants work, pay taxes and spend their money in the communities they live in.

They are allowing the conversation to be hijacked by a bunch of lumpen do-nothings who want everyone dragged down to their level
Britain paying the price, in cash money, for indulging anti-immigration rhetoric and action.
The Times - which has v much joined in the rightwing clamour to reduce immigration - now reporting that Mahmood’s “success” has cost the economy £4- to £7Bn.
Would they like to now honestly confirm that fewer people = less spending power for all.
There’s a high price to pay for this nasty obsession.

With respect, Abeba, if we don’t allow big tech to consume all of our resources and dominate our economic model, how are we supposed to pay-off voters with “budget goodies” so as to distract them from the slow decline of social cohesion?
this is absurd. the Irish government has consistently shown it favours big tech over ordinary citizens
Government shamefully votes down our proposal for a €500 energy credit for every household paid for by a levy on energy usage of data centres.

This 20c per kWh levy would just mean data centres paying the same as ordinary households.

But that's too much for this government!

A really good way to deal with this would be to invest heavily in public transport, way more buses and trains, and give free/discounted fares.
