Too many Democrats concede as "fact" the stereotype-driven propaganda that far-right groups like the Alliance Defending Freedom have promoted: that trans athletes at all ages and forever have a competitive advantage and that safety, even, is at issue.

A long body of research disproves these claims
Republicans are putting transphobia on the November ballot in seven questions in five states. The measures reflect broad anti-feminist aims, from "sex verification" for girls to limits on reproductive rights, an analysis by @billiejsweeney.bsky.social for Assigned Media and Important Context finds.
Transphobic Ballot Questions Reveal the Right’s Anti-Girl, Anti-Kid Agenda - Assigned Media
Seven initiatives in five states would exploit trans people to promote a gender-policing surveillance state. This story was produced in partnership with the Accountability Journalism Institute. A poli...

Once the majority has decided a marginalized group is the demon in one part of a story, it’s easier to paint them as demons in another.

But it doesn't have to be this way. These books offer a humane approach to trans athletes:
Let Them Play: How Welcoming Trans Athletes Can Improve Sports Culture for All
Three recent books press us to understand the humanity and lives of gender-expansive athletes.

Zack Polanski rings the alarm on the security service report in food security impact of climate change. Starmer tried to bury it. Burnham still sits on it. Only the Greens are bold enough.
THE REPORT THEY TRIED TO HIDE.

Empty shelves.
Water shortages.
Food security at risk.

The government cannot keep hiding the scale of the threat. It must release the report in full and act on it.

imagine being a teenager excited to visit a faraway country and play cricket, and you find yourself hiding in your hotel room hoping the thugs knocking your door don’t try to break it down

then imagine being an asylum seeker put into a hotel room hoping the same thing

we should be so ashamed

As a parent of a trans kiddo - medical care for trans care is clear, has medical recommendations, and does not need you sticking your nose into the business.
The only debate is an existential one. Either you support trans people, or you think they don't deserve to exist.

Everything else is noise.
Talarico says he would vote in favor of a national ban for transgender surgeries for minors

Almost all gender-affirming surgeries for minors are breast reductions for *cis boys*.

Yes you read that right,

*Boys who are not trans*

@jamestalarico.bsky.social in his ignorance & cowardice wants to ban the tiny number of IDENTICAL operations performed on trans boys.

This is transphobia.

The idea that we are fundamentally averse to the idea that machines can think is BS. Human beings are actually very much inclined to believe machines can think. Our sci-fi sense of wonder is being exploited by charlatans. We do not accept PR and propaganda that are wholly unsupported by the facts.

Important to remember today:

If ANY Labour MP talks about “respecting” the Supreme Court misjudgement, they are *lying* to you.

Parliament can overturn ANY SC decision & the government can amend the Equality Act to include trans people.

The SC misjudgement still stands because Labour WANTS it to.

I've been very off my fitness game for the past year and a half, and this is the first time since then that I've committed to following a fitness routine again! I'm not as good as I used to be 😭 Don't lift as much and my VO2 Max suffered but its getting better!!
Also I am proud of myself for having gone jogging regularly for the 4th week in a row now 😌 small but substantial win!

One reason England does so well is our second generation immigrants outperform their peers which is not true in most OECD countries.

We are also very good at integration. And it's v sad that this is never acknowledge in debates on immigration.

This autumn our workshops will be focusing on what is perhaps one of the most important, yet often overlooked, elements of writing — craft! So much about the writing life is mythologised, opaque and gate-kept, it can be easy to forget the value of writing sentences that work.

Calling kids "gifted" is suboptimal for so many reasons, but here's the biggest imo:

- Treating a skill of logical reasoning as a gift, as granted, can make you neglect it.

- You may even enter a studious field/ métier, but neglect your logical reasoning skill outside of your specialty

"Nearly two thirds of asylum case rejections overturned on appeal" [Times]

No appeal system should have a high rate of success like this unless the system, as we see with benefits, is designed to reject legitimate claims.

Much like Section 28, this new era threatens to erase an LGBTQIA+ minority group

But this time, they may be harder to overturn 👇
Section 28 2.0: A complex web of anti-trans guidance that will make it vastly harder to overturn
Anti-trans rhetoric has been spread across a growing myriad of guidance and documents, with Trans+ children headed back to school facing segregation and teachers banned from “encouraging” them to question their gender.
