For anyone on their "Horror Movie A Day" journey this October, might I suggest adding BLACK ZOMBIE to your list?

It's one of the better horror docs I've seen in a bit. A perfect companion to Horror Noire (the doc) over on Shudder.
Fantasia 2026 Review: BLACK ZOMBIE is an Insightful Look Into Haitian Zombie Origins - Daily Dead
Not too long ago, it seemed that anyone with a camera and a vague understanding of horror movies was churning out genre-specific documentaries. Standouts like Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror r...

As we close in on the midterms, a friendly reminder to check your voter registration status early and often, but ONLY on the state websites. Those third-party databases might be accurate, but you're gonna be passing along a lot of PII (Personally Identifiable Information) to whoever manages them.

Please remember that for every VE Schwab and Stephen King, there are a lot of banned Black, queer, and POC writers you've never heard of, to whom it is maybe not a badge of honor but a denial of their voice. Being banned is not a marketing opportunity, unless one is already rich.
It's Banned Books Week. Please read widely and bravely.

Thread includes email addresses and more specific info about where to direct this necessary commentary:
If you are part of an academic society or a professor of any kind, public statements that you do not condone Drexel cutting off the academy of natural sciences from the public of Philadelphia is very important right now. We need your voices. Urgently.

I wrote this last year and didn’t think anyone would read it (or care). People did read it though. Conversations were had and a few horror people use the word less/have conversations about the use of the word in their work.

When people in power deliver bad news to you, they expect you to just take punch, accept it, and move on.

In these situations, we need to empower ourselves to reject the premise.

I want you to look at three time points in the fight to save the academy of natural sciences with me.
