Idle political musing:

UBI ultimately wont affect jobs much at all, rather unlock the true humanist reward - usefulness, connectedness and purpose

A scant few will never work and … good for them! Feels like yet another level up in civilisation if you ask me—decoupling morality and productivity

Co-author of iconic Liberal text On Liberty with her husband John Stuart Mill
(He credited her as co-author, but for some reason hardly anyone else did at the time – or even 167 years later. Wonder why? Hmm, what a mystery)

Back then, I was 5 and K9 was both funny and super-exciting
Did I play my Talking K9 until the little record wore out? “Affirmative!”

Introducing K9!
The tin dog will join the man in the scarf and the woman with the knife and leathers as Classic Who’s most iconic TARDIS team
Then join another iconic team for the 21st Century.

OTD 1977: Tom Robinson Band – 2-4-6-8 Motorway
Their first and biggest hit, with a terrific riff from Danny Kustow’s blistering lead guitar
Hugely catchy driving song, arguably more relatable than Tom’s other driving songs, which all steer desperately through haunting post-apocalyptic landscapes…

This was my first King Arthur on screen, and I fell in love with the legend for ever
But it was also the first thing I ever saw Maureen O’Brien in, and coming later to her Doctor Who, I’ve never quite been able to trust Vicki!

OTD 1979: The Legend of King Arthur BBC1
Serious, history-toned version of the myth with the magic toned down (yet still there)
Scripted by – yes – the Andrew Davies
Andrew Burt is Arthur
David Robb Lancelot
But most memorable for boy me was Maureen O’Brien playing Morgan le Fay as an evil nun.

Kings Cross as described by [checks notes] Douglas Adams
I get the appeal of nostalgia, I really do, but I find it specifically funny to get a leaflet from Reform's candidate talking about how when he was in the Met 31 years ago, he would never have dreamed of lawlessness like the kind we now see in Kings Cross.

I love how Jodie starts off with such joy and energy – and oddity
(I wish she’d been given more of all three)
I like having a year without all the same enemies* and with the Doctor’s personal credo up front and driving her actions.

*Yet, O! The Master to come!

Top Mrs Gale moment: give Daphne a gun, trusting she *would* shoot her stepmother’s lover.
Top Steed moment you wouldn’t get from the Doctor: confront your Weeping Angel by propositioning her. His hand on her bottom is, after all, a form of observation.

While Doctor Who, as it has from the beginning, fights fascism
And fights racists here more explicitly than ever
After here linking Daleks, Nazis and racism in the streets, the following story will bring down a Thatcher-ish regime…
…But tell me Doctor Who was never political until ‘These days’.

It is incredibly telling, to me at least, how Cameron and May were more progressive on trans rights, and yet even those areas of recognition are being rolled back/completely destroyed by Labour, yet trans and non-binary individuals are ignored, talked over, and told to shut up and support Labour.
Please don't forget about us trans people. Facing the worst attack on our rights in this country due to Labour's current transphobia.

Don't forget my community. That's all I ask. Please.
