Good. Preeclampsia seems like an especially dangerous condition to have in Texas: it’s manageable until it very suddenly really, really isn’t. I went from “early rupture, negative for preeclampsia” to “baby’s gotta come out right the fuck now” in the span of a week. I can 100% see how this happened.

Which is really the problem with using monthly active users to measure enshittification. Social platforms get compared to physical malls or big box stores often, but that doesn’t really capture what they are. If you walk into a Walmart and it’s completely rundown, yes, you would stop going to that store and it would go out of business. As long as there are other stores left in your town you could still go to, of course. But social platforms monetize negative experiences the same as positive ones. All of these companies — and, apparently, Thelot — believe that if people keep signing up and keep using these apps they’re doing so because they actively want to and enjoy being on them. It couldn’t possibly be that you need to be on them now to run a business or communicate with other people!
