The brilliant @amwhelan.bsky.social has written a short piece about DOD's new testosterone testing/treatment policy, based on a longer piece that law journals should absolutely grab ASAP.

Just so you know, if you hire me to fact check your book, I will *never* use AI to do it.

I will, however, be really hyper-detailed and not go easy on you and frankly be pretty pedantic (complimentary) and even fact check your jokes - but I won’t use AI to do ANY of that.
As a professional fact checker I would never *in a million years* use AI for research and fact checking. It lies! It makes things up! It plagiarizes! And I also have an obligation to the authors I work for not to do shoddy half-work.

Note: Idaho’s anti-trans bathroom law is severe.

A 1st time violator can face up to a year in prison, and a 2nd offense (within 5 years of the first) can result in a felony and up to 5 years in prison.

People piss 6-8 times a day, on average, so it prohibits people from being in public.

It'll take me a few days to go through them all, but so far it's one stunner after another.

With federal research funding cuts, the first year of Trump 2.0 was tough. Year 2 is in some ways grimmer, a @statnews.com survey shows. Bridge funding is drying up, existing grants are ending & competition for fewer new grants is steep, @aniloza.bsky.social reports. www.statnews.com/2026/04/30/n...
Securing NIH awards is getting more competitive — and confusing
The likelihood of snagging NIH grants has plunged to historic lows, forcing academic researchers to resort to a variety of tactics to try to obtain funding
