In my personal life I have moved away from thinking of people as stupid. Instead I just think of people as "incurious," where the Doing of learning has become something they are too tired, scared, or proud to pursue. Curiosity is, I think, the greatest human virtue, the Doing of learning.
to me, Doing is a knife that must be continually honed, however small the grind wheel available to you is, because to me it's not about how sharp the knife actually is it's about the process of honing itself. if you are Doing then you are living. there are always opportunities to Do if you seek them

i do not meaningfully care about this argument but my stance remains: i refuse to generate unpaid content for elon musk the child pornographer, and to model the behavior that lets elon's algorithm show me the optimal unpaid content he wants me to see. it's interesting that you want to do that though

One of the greatest video game stories ever written is about piloting a deeply hungover, divorced, schizophrenic detective through an Estonian DnD group's strange mid-apocalyptic game world and trying to get him to dance with his partner, a closeted petrolhead. AI can never generate a Cuno.
maybe i'm old fashion but the coolest thing about video games is being taken to new worlds that i hadn't thought up and experiencing something exciting that the artists behind the game want to show me

So in order to keep this game alive it's going to need to bring in $1000 net per day forever. This cost scales up per user.

The developer behind Teach My Little Sister How to Drive, a driving generative AI-powered instruction sim, has been spending $1000 a day to keep the demo running, and now, they've had to take out a bank loan to keep up. https://bit.ly/4rWqe8g

“Strange Scaffold’s distinctive creative lens” yeesh. Barely pretending now, huh.

Not all stories are mine to tell but uhh

I am highly skeptical about all of this and the uncritical positive framing in all coverage of this studio

“You are infringing on the time and brainpower of people by pushing "your" content that little/no of your brainpower went into” is such a banger

We could solve so many problems by just imposing a rule "the statements and works produced by a chatbot are, legally, the personal statements and works of everyone with voting shares in the company controlling that chatbot."
If we had a federal government that wasn't firmly up the ass of Big AI, they'd make it a crime for an AI to put people in mortal danger by sending them into wilderness areas with fictional instructions.

If a human kept doing this, they'd probably go to jail, even under existing laws.

it was smart of jacob geller to only post about what he did to his 50k followers on here instead of to his 1.5 million youtube subs or on his patreon. that way fewer people know about it and he limits the financial hit

Christ, Resident Evil is such a fucking good time at the movies. Funny but not insistent on it, knows how to do terror and horror. Bloody, meaty, boney, but it isn't fascinated with gore. The protagonist is radiating little brother energy in the best way.

This is, as far as I can tell, the only use of an em-dash by Reuters in its entire posting history on bsky. Their standard for this would be to either break the headline into two sentences, or use a semicolon, or a normal hyphen. The em-dash is being deliberately deployed here.

It's art that people who aren't in the space have trouble seeing as such, much like poetry, noise music, and dada
i think one big factor (among many) as to why AI has had such a foothold in coding spaces is because the majority of people dont consider programming to be art
