What is an "unspoken threat"? The Blazers have nowhere better to go and zero offers on the table. Either the team is threatening to leave or it isn't.

same, but taking the Subject and General tests of the GRE on the same day. I don't even have an excuse.
Even the most uncomfortable vaccinations are nothing compared to the agony of the diseases they stave off. The worst I've ever felt after a jab was when I insisted - against doctor's orders - on getting the shingles, flu and covid jabs at the same time.

Arte Moreno bought the Angels in 2003 (the year after they won the Series) for $184 million. He then spent 23 years running them into the ground, let the stadium decay, wasted Trout and Ohtani, and sold for $4 billion. And the owners are crying poverty and threatening to kill baseball next year.

I think anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together would have immediately deduced the overlap between “Mr. Beast fan” and “person who reads books” was so small as to approach the Planck length, but now I’m legitimately thinking about reviewing this because I’m curious how bad it could be
“Bad news for publisher HarperCollins: The book-buying subset of MrBeast fans appears to be vanishingly small. Two people close to the project say The Most Dangerous Games is on track to be a historic bomb…”

The NFL doesn't have "markets," it has 30 TV studios. Two-thirds of revenue comes in through the national-TV deals; there is no local TV, and successful teams sell 600-650K tickets.

There is absolutely nothing connecting the business models of the two leagues. It's apples and concussions.

When you are in the caucus room developing your proposals, there has to be a leader who says, "no, we're not going to propose that" because it's so outrageously unreasonable. But, Manfred and Halem aren't those leaders. They are the help.

The proposals are being developed by 2nd generation
MLB, Rob Manfred & the owners are so out of their fucking minds with the shit they’re offering the players union. What they’re offering is bad that they want to take things back over 25 years ago to make it so that players can’t even get the type of contract Alex Rodriguez got. Fucking disgusting.

Brief rant:

Yes it's cool that Brunson took less money so the Knicks could build a champion under the salary cap. But he shouldn't have *had* to. Salary caps are just tools billionaires use to suppress wages, and no one gets upset because the labor (pro athletes) make so much money.

please, I beg to have to understand baseball trades in these terms, it seems like such a good time!
Garrett has several void years on his contract, which I excluded from the image. Those allow the Rams to spread out his salary cap hits beyond the actual terms of his contract, which gives them more flexibility to add players now.

Teams don't mind void years because the salary cap keeps going up.

Im not siding with either side here, but comparing the MLB players association to any real worker trade union is abhorrent.

another point in why a cap/floor system is inherently anti-labor is that the cap/floor system gives owners more power/leverage that can lead to much more union busting. if owners are given a system that they can wield more power with, there will be attempts to ensure they get what they want.
