The UK's 117 day long streak of somewhere having at least 20c every single day has ended today.

This record trashes any previous year and proves beyond any doubt that the UK is suffering serious Climate Change.

just had a straight white cis man at work tell the group chat to "instead let's just get on with our lives with normal words and, thus, stop annoying everyone."

it was over whether "folks" is a more inclusive term than "guys". (it is)

Fear of women divorcing men helped kill passage of basic income law back in the 1970s. Not only was that conclusion in error, but it turned out it improved relationships. Since then, the evidence has only deepened that the power to exit it provides leads to better relationships and far less abuse.
Does Basic Income Cause Divorce? 50 Years of Evidence Says No.
The 1970s fear that UBI breaks up families came from a statistical error. Finland, Canada, Kenya, and Alaska show no rise in divorce, and instead better relationships with less domestic violence.

Higher education is actively collapsing while Labour MPs report the Green Party to the cops for having opinions they don’t like. A government obsessed with fighting the left while our most successful cultural institutions collapse.
'The University of Nottingham has confirmed that it will close its music and languages departments as it presses ahead with more than 500 job cuts despite widespread opposition from staff and students.'

A blight on East Midlands and UK higher education.

You know, I am quite ambivalent about bsky because it's quite genteel and unbothered in the main.

I have seen FAR MORE OUTRAGE about the Greens motion over the last two hours than posts about Palestine over the last two years.

A quick look for sentences passed down (a while ago, yes) for others convicted of bombings in the UK suggests - and I know that the legislation is different - that 15 years is at the lower end of what he might have expected.
Hugely dishonest to pass off a sentence for setting off a bomb as "destroying a camera"

It's that time of year again when we need to remind National Trust members that Restore Trust is a dark-money funded right-wing astroturfing entryist outfit.

Please vote, and vote for literally anyone else.
Support the National Trust by voting for Council members by 11:59pm on 30 October 2026.

Quickvote is convenient if you're short of time or worried about inadvertently voting for Restore Trust's Bonigala, Cristea, Goldman, Mealing or Omrani.

In our often bad times, the Trust's doing good things.
Today marks three years since the iconic Sycamore Gap tree was illegally felled.

We're pleased to bring you new images which reveal how the stump is growing, a sure sign that the tree is in recovery.
