The Easterton Of Roseisle Stone - a Class 1 Pictish Symbol Stone discovered at Moray in 1894. The stone probably dates to the 5th or 6th centuries, and is now part of the collections at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. 📸 My own #StandingStoneSunday #Picts

#ArtefactSunday – Two ivory Roman folding-knife handles carved in the form of gladiators. The figure on the left represents a secutor, with his distinctive enclosed helmet and rectangular shield. Dated to the 3rd century AD; the gladiatorial type and date of the second handle are uncertain.

Nunney Castle sits in the centre of the village of Nunney near Frome. It was constructed in 1373 by a knight called Sir John De La Mare under royal licence.

Now owned by English Heritage.

Railfreight Distribution liveried 47286 ‘Port of Liverpool’ awaits its next duty at Carlisle. Withdrawal came in 1999, and the loco was cut up in 2000 in Wigan. A sad end for the loco after 33 years service.

Llanbadrig Church, Anglesey. Said to be the oldest church foundation in Wales by St. Patrick in 440AD. The present church fabric is 12th c. (font and nave) with a 14th-16th c. chancel. 1884 internal renovations revealed the 9th c. ‘Icthus’ stone depicting crossed fish and a palm tree.
