I didn't enjoy NES Metroid until I stopped trying to follow guides and started drawing my own maps.

I loved videogames as a kid because they gave me a peek into another world. They're not just a bunch of systems to overcome. Sometimes it's worth taking time to explore and chart your own course.

His approach is adapting the gameplay and using that as a vehicle to tell a story. That's infinitely more interesting than Leon S Kennedy one liners for 90 minutes.

Zach Cregger has responded to Resident Evil fans who are upset his movie won't be a retelling of the story exactly as it unfolds in the games, saying, "I’m sorry that’s not the story I’m bringing." https://bit.ly/4zVFiqh

September 2026's #MapsOfTheMonth honour @ VGMaps.com: The Video Game Atlas goes to @vgcartography.bsky.social's Quest 64 (N64) maps!
That's right, it's certainly the game to celebrate 30 years of the Nintendo 64!
Hey, I know #Quest64 has its fans!

I loaded the newest Dean of Doom episode by #MtPain27 and paused when my dog started bothering me, landing on this still. "Fun, comma..." I feel like I'm extracting meaning out of nothing, but this also encapsulates my enjoyment of the Doom community content most of the time.

I unironically like Quest 64. It's a flawed RPG with tedious combat and virtually no story or characters, but it's also an early 3rd person open-ish world game (predating Ocarina of Time, even) with a unique battle system, evocative environments (in a liminal space sort of way), and some good music!

Lock-on targeting is getting another polish pass. We’re borrowing a little inspiration from a certain N64 game.
