Incredible: another Ukrainian famine is unfolding, this time in Russian-occupied Oleshky. The remaining inhabitants of what used to be a thriving small city, now down to about 6000 people, are blockaded by Russian forces and cut off from food and water.

The biggest problem I have with the ‘AI is the solution to gatekeeping creativity’ is that the PROCESS is the POINT for anyone who compulsively works at their thing. It may look like there’s a point of arrival, but I assure there is not. The art is the work. Nobody is gatekeeping you from working.

Using generative AI means that you can't answer the most basic element of research, which is "where did you get this information?"
I have compared AI to the legal concept of fruit of the poisonous tree for my students. Because the chain of custody of evidence is tainted by the black box, we cannot trust anything it produces because citation IS the evidence, and using AI breaks that chain.
