Wait, a frontier AI company may have stolen information from someone?
Four days ago, a scientist was surprised by the news that Anthropic discovered new virus genes for making DNA. He says he’s been studying them for years—and feeding his data to Anthropic’s AI as part of his own research. Coincidence? Here’s my story. nyti.ms/3VSWayc
Did Anthropic’s A.I. Really Make a Scientific Discovery on Its Own? (Gift Article)
An expert at the University of Copenhagen said his team had been sharing its research with the company’s A.I. model, Claude, and that its new finding matched their work.

Muse has just dumped its entire filesystem, and the instructions include "keep a page for every person in the user's life" with "the nature of the user's relationship with this person: how close they are, what it is built on, how they act with each other, and what it seems to need right now."

Incredible. First Secretary Mullin claimed that DHS had identified 15,903 noncitizens on Nevada’s voter roll.

Then DHS officials told a skeptical Nevada, no no no, that’s just people we flagged. Here are the names of 185 people we KNOW aren’t citizens.

All 185 were citizens. DHS got 100% wrong.

According to Semafor, David Ellison has discussed bringing Elon Musk on as an investor in Paramount's merger with Warner Bros., which could mean Musk could have a stake in CBS News and CNN.

NEW: @apnews.com confirms that ICE has begun electronically "disappearing" people in the agency's custody who have final orders of removal.

As of last week, anyone jailed by ICE with a final order of removal will NOT appear in the ICE Online Detainee Locator System, making them effectively vanish.

This is an important read. I also have noticed local Detroit TV news station crime segments are specifically mentioning the importance of Flock cameras -- it feels extremely coordinated and intentional.
NEW: Hackers ripped down a Flock camera above a roadway, made a near-complete copy of the data stored inside it, and shared the files with 404 Media and @wired.com, revealing in new detail how exactly Flock Safety’s cameras track the movements of both vehicles and people.
Hackers Stole Flock’s Camera Software, Revealing How the Company Tracks Cars and People
While people around the U.S. are tearing down Flock cameras, one group of hackers went a step further: extracting the camera's software too.

AI Doomerism has been in the news lately, especially with the loud, viral resignation of Jacob Coxon from Anthropic.

Maybe I've missed it, but I haven't seen any statements from CEOs and other execs who are more on the AI Booster side of the ledger.

Take a look at the examples Antrophic provides for research that they blocked, and it's immediately clear almost much all of it is just basic research - but research that has gotten scary-sounding names via the media.

An example, put Ebola genomes into Claude Science and ask for a TMRCA > blocked!

I was going to make a joke a few days ago about YIMBYs supporting hyperscale datacenters but someone - apparently seriously - did it for me.
Datacenter NIMBYism is a great way to make life harder for the digital commons while only marginally inconveniencing megacorps, and altering development patterns in ways that harm the most vulnerable.

You could consider reading the study before commenting if you have questions.
I mean it's still an appalling total but looking only at dead players seems like it makes it impossible to make the "1 in 4 players will get CTE" conclusion since CTE can cause you to die and most former NFL players are still alive? Am I missing something here?
