Busan has a new resident named Bukangi, a shark who started chilling in the canals near the train station a couple weeks ago. The city has been trying all sorts of schemes to gently lead her back to the ocean but she foils every attempt and swims back and forth being admired by crowds of fans.

Wow. LOISH got accused of using Ai to make her art. I started following her on early deviantart. I remember first seeing her paintings in college. This is ridiculous, no one is safe. Artists Ive followed for actual decades are getting harassed because their work has been stolen and regurgitated.

Yeah that'll work. We couldn't take you seriously because you didn't have silly mascots. Duh.

Say it with me folks: people shouldn't be forced to prove they aren't using AI. Instead, AI users should be forced to clearly label their slop as such.
(Sorry, that might be hard to say in unison. I'm bad at slogans.)
The rush to accuse, without anything approaching due diligence, artists of using "AI," should be treated with contempt. An artist gets their work *ripped off* to train a plagiarism machine, which then shits out inferior versions of that work, so then you accuse the artist of using "AI"? Fuck you.

Not the least bit surprising but still extremely grim to read.

In the UK we get to see government records, White Papers and Hansard. I think we need to add "the public can see elected members' AI chat history records" as well, especially as it's so easily played with by the fascist men in silicon valley
For a long time I've wanted a sense of how trump has or hasn't interacted with chatbots (we know he posts a lot of slop sure). And this TIME anecdote about Grok arguably leading Trump into war is just extremely bracing

Jesus the well known martial artist!
More Death from the St. Agnes Convent. Here's the centre panel of an altarpiece made in Prague between 1521 and 1525, showing Jesus saving the donor of the artwork from Death's grasp by putting them in a wristlock. My guess is Death counters the move by clocking him with that hourglass...

one of the reasons that I warn researchers away from adapting commercial LLMs into their pipeline is that Big Tech has a history of sunsetting popular, usable products and replacing them with worse ones. (i'm trying to ween myself off of google scholar, but it is hard).
In the vein of AI making everything better 🙄 today google discontinued their google assistant that we used to verbally add things to a grocery list. Instead you now have to use Gemini which cannot complete the same task.

Anyone have a good android list app that allows you to add things by speaking?

Latest WSJ poll:

"63% want to pause AI development
61% want a billionaire wealth tax
59% want Medicare for All
57% want a $20 minimum wage
58% want to end U.S. military aid to Israel"

This is the center of the country politically. it is time all adjust to this political spectrum, esp. media.

That's the second time in a couple of months that I've experienced a bug in my online banking. Never in the decade before. Is everyone vibe coding or what? Worrying if a bank is doing that shit. I had to log out and back in again just to see the correct balance. It was missing hundreds of pounds.
