The Kennedy Center was created to celebrate the arts—not presidential power.

President Eisenhower helped create the National Cultural Center.

President Kennedy championed it.

After JFK’s assassination, Congress renamed it in his honor as a “living memorial.”

The Constitution cannot defend itself.

As lawyers, we understand that this is our job.

On Constitution Day, we recognize our continuing responsibility to protect the democratic freedoms, opportunities, and institutions it established.

“I feel proud, and I feel mad as hell. We are still dealing with the same issues.”

Gloria Steinem said those words in 2022. Today, as we mourn her passing at 92, they feel especially poignant.

Some promises don't expire.

Friday, our members stood with thousands at the Lincoln Memorial for the March on Washington: Defend the Vote — because 63 years later, Dr. King's promise is still unfinished business.

The right to vote was never simply given. It was won through decades of courage and persistence.

On this day in 1920, the 19th Amendment was certified.

It was a landmark achievement, though many women—especially women of color—continued to face barriers to voting for decades.

The campaign against medication abortion has a new talking point—but environmental experts say the science doesn't support it.

After joining an amicus brief defending access to mifeprisone last week, we're watching new efforts to restrict it: www.politico.com/news/2026/07...

Activists ‘throwing everything' they can against abortion turn to wastewater data
Activists are using a study released this week to push the Trump administration for restrictions. Scientists question the findings.

As the right to vote faces direct attacks, equal opportunity protections are being scaled back, and rising costs make daily life harder for millions of Americans, the promise of the 1963 March on Washington remains unfinished.

The legal profession won't get different outcomes for women lawyers by asking them to be more resilient.

We need to examine the systems, cultures, and expectations that shape their experiences.

We joined 167 other organizations in filing an amicus brief urging the Fifth Circuit to preserve FDA rules allowing mifepristone to be prescribed through telehealth.

The most powerful moments in history begin with an audacious idea: that the law should recognize what justice already demands.

Seneca Falls sparked a movement that took 72 years to secure women's right to vote. That work continues today.

The Fourth of July celebrates an idea as much as a nation.

Nearly 250 years ago, our founders declared that "all men are created equal."

While those words did not reflect the lived reality of many Americans, they articulated ideals that generations have worked to make more real.
