#MathsToday #ALevelMaths can anyone help with how you know which approach to take?
In #MathsToday I spent time with a student on TMUA questions. His big question was how do you know whether to take an algebraic or graphical approach because if you don't pick the right one you run out of time. Any advice? Also, has anyone collated logic qu from MAT which would be good TMUA practice

How does this chart get made and approved? Stacked instead of dual bar chart, makes harder to compare the 2. Cumulative frequency up to 6 then not cumulative for the last category, I think. Makes it harder to understand. I can use this in #GCSEststistics teaching next year.

In 1964 and 2024 Labour got fewer votes than in 1959 and 2019....
And in 2001/2005 fewer votes than in 1992...

A fun thing that connects 1964, 1997 and 2024 is that they are all elections Labour won from opposition, which had lower turnouts than the election they lost in 1959, 1992 and 2019.
Think a lot of people in UK politics miss that your opponent's apathy is an essential part of a winning strategy.
Tory voters could stay home in 97 and 24 in a way they wouldn't in 17 and 19, for example.

Is there a reason I ask that the Times are using a picture of asylum seekers in a boat to describe rules for migrants who came on legal routes such as skilled worker visas for doctors?
Tough new conditions to be imposed on migrants who want to settle in the UK will not apply to more than a million people who arrived in the UK under the post-Brexit immigration surge

I am still semi-convinced that if we rejoin the EU it will be driven by an argument that it will reduce migration.
One odd thing that is left out of the small boats discourse is how much the problem was directly caused by Conservative policy – specifically Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal.
