Had a close call visiting a local establishment's website yesterday. A CloudFlare dialogue came up, and after clicking to confirm that 'I was not a robot', it prompted me to:
* Press Windows+R (opening a run command window
* Paste something from my keyboard and press enter

Don't ever do this.

Most recent book rec. I didn't luvluvluv it, but it was pretty good. THREE plot twists in the last 20-30 pages! Worth the time.

I mean, Talarico is the right Democrat for Texas but would get crushed in New York. Mamdani is the right Democrat for New York but would get crushed in Texas. This isn't hard.

When I wrote "we often rely on extraction efforts happening in other countries which may or may not be friendly" in my renewable energy video, Canada was not on my mind.

But please, Canada - get nasty and fuck us up. You have every right to not be friendly, and we're counting on it.

on two occasions I have run into a dude who went with the "I identify as a woman" thing because he thinks its really funny and my learning has been that if you take his word for it and start calling him a woman he stops finding it funny in about 1 second and starts getting upset & so you don't stop

Back in the day the premise was "Rent to Own." A possibility built upon a scam. Now, we pay a monthly fee to watch TV and movies and listen to music, yet never the possibility to own. Not sure which scam is worse. Yet, both have an impact on the poor.

NYT wanted to write a story about "moderate Dems go to war with DSA," looked around, and the best they could find was a *proposal* by Third Way to spend $15M against left candidates.

The story is not evidence that *Democrats* and the left hate each other... it's evidence that the NYT hates both.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

Sure, AI can write a book in the blink of an eye but can it stare out of the window for half an hour with tears in its eyes then return to the keyboard and bang the desk in frustration and scream “SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT”?

also, working class is no longer a class, but a cultural signifier. if you work as a nail technician, you're working class, but no one pitches their entire political campaign at you.
A lot of this is also rooted in the fact that left wing men would rather try to win back white working class men than build a coalition with white women with college degrees (who are decidedly economically progressive) and Black voters (older ones are conservative. Younger ones are more left-wing)
“But the bigger problem is how much of the media of ‘the left’ is dominated by men who appear to have no understanding of sexual abuse or intimate partner violence, but do have a pretty hefty sexist streak that they either aren’t aware of or don’t care to remedy.”

Good morning, Bluesky.

“I hide the fear and I dig.”

I want this in needlepoint over my desk. It’s as good a description of the writing life as any I know.

Danny’s dug 17 tunnels. I’m revising my 27th novel.

I hide the fear and I dig.

Then that should go for the second amendment, too, yeah?
Kavanaugh says that Constitution is an "enduring document" and that new exceptions to birthright citizenship can be added for "modern situations that were unknown or unanticipated by the Constitution’s Framers"

This birthright ruling is why I just refuse to tolerate all the Democrat garment rending over NY voters choosing progressive candidates. They are incapable of governing in this moment. The politics of appeasement and centrism gets us to a 5-4 decision on the constitutional question.

Seems the real problem centrist democrats are facing right now is the people are being very clear that they want leaders who will solve their biggest problems, and centrist democrats really don't want to solve their biggest problems and hate the people for wanting that. It's a real pickle for them.
