I'm a white Arab American. Most ppl would never know that's my background by looking at me. The day after 9/11, family friends, who did not know, where at the house and openly talking about how all Arabs and Muslims in the US should be rounded up into camps. I was 12 years old. We were never united.
This is the "Charlie Brown had hoes" of the center now.
You didn't experience this. It didn't happen. This wasn't real.

But that feeling of a shared bond among all Americans in the early weeks after the attack is something I’m so glad I got to experience. Because it’s the thing that I think we’re missing the most today.
