It’s #FieldWorkFriday!
This week, our field team traveled to Benton, CA, to upgrade equipment that helps keep ShakeAlert’s earthquake early warning system connected. 🏔️
This is just the start! More regional monitoring sites are expected to receive upgrades over the next year.

Hands and boots in the mud is an important part of conservation work, but being out on the water is always our happy place!

Happy Friday Everyone!

Meet one of the handsome untagged tups (male sheep) who have wandered into our study area, fashionably early for the rut. 🐏

This autumn we’re aiming to catch, tag, & take DNA samples from these tups, so we can follow them and every lamb they sire. @soaysheep.bsky.social

#FieldworkFriday. Cart ruts at Misraħ Għar il-Kbir. No aliens or mysterious underwater civilisations involved, alas

#FieldworkFriday. One of the persistent 'alternative interpretations' of Maltese cart ruts is that they were made for water transport. But...as I show here with an example of one of the main pairs of cart ruts at Misraħ Għar il-Kbir.....

Happy #FieldWorkFriday! When rain washed out the main trail, our Field team and volunteers put their adventure skills to work, finding a new route to our MBW2 station. Once there, they installed a new router, proving that no muddy path can stop this team!

Happy #FieldworkFriday! Our field crew just finished up with routine maintenance at one of our stations, FMW. Check out the video to see how the station works and the sights of Mount Fremont #shakealert

#FieldworkFriday Thinking about Neolithic tombs (after visiting a group of several at Xemxija recently, where thousands of bones were deposited in the Neolithic). Interesting that these tomb openings are similar size and shape to puddles of water which form in hollows after rain

CIRES scientists travel far and wide — and high — for their research.

In this #FieldworkFriday photo from 2025, Dave Costa, an electrical engineer at CIRES working in @noaa.gov PSL, climbs on a tower at a Wind Forecast Improvement Project (WFIP3) site on Block Island, RI.
